国内专门用途英语教材调研分析 被引量:16

Analysis of the ESP textbooks published in China

摘要 目前国内出版的ESP教材基本上跳出了以语法结构和功能为纲的编写思路,遵循'以学习为中心'的教材建设理念来选择教材内容和设计练习,把学习实践放在首位,注重学习者的语言使用过程,培养学生实际使用英语去从事所学专业各种业务活动的能力。根据不同的教学目标,选择恰当的原汁原味的语言材料,再根据学习者的特征和学习方式等因素,对材料的学习重点和掌握情况提出不同的要求和标准。在保证语言输入的质量、激发学习者的兴趣和动机方面作了许多有益的探索,并取得较好的效果。但是,ESP教材也存在着以下问题:教材定位不明确;目标读者不够细化;教材在专业知识和语言训练方面没有达到有机结合,'任务'活动缺乏实用性和针对性。总之,目前ESP教材由于市场的需求量增加而大量出现,质量良莠不齐。我们认为,教材的编写者应该不断地对教材进行跟踪调查,了解教材的优点和缺点,及时更新内容,修正弱点,弥补教材中的不足,增强教材的适用性。 The ESP textbooks published in China so far have shifted their focus from the grammar and functional approaches to the“learning-centered approach”.The principle of“learning and practice”has been attached importance to and the process of learning has been emphasized with the aims of developing the learner’s language skills and training them how to use the English language well and efficiently in their future work.The quality and variety of the ESP textbooks have been paid more and more attention to and therefore the learner’s interests in learning have been aroused and enhanced in the learning process.These textbooks,however,have some shortcomings.First,their positioning is not clear enough;second,the segmentation of the learners is not sufficiently done;third,there is a lack of good balance between subject knowledge teaching and language skill practice;and fourth,the task-based approach is not practical enough to accommodate learners of different English levels.In all,the writers of the article suggest that the publication of the textbooks should not be the end of the textbook compiling work.The published textbooks should be constantly and efficiently revised according to the changing needs of the learners and the objectives of the teaching.
