高职英语ESP教学与人才培养——以无锡科技职业学院为例 被引量:1

On the roles of ESP teaching in cultivating qualified graduates in vocational colleges

摘要 随着职场对人才要求的提高,各院校为适应这一变化而优化了各系各专业的课程设置,因此服务于各系(除英语专业之外)的公共英语教学也要作相应的调整。原有的高职通用英语教学和考评教与学的机制已经很难适应当前的就业形势。为解决这个问题,无锡科技职业学院外语系公共英语教研室以全院08级非英语专业学生为对象,进行专用英语的教学与研究。该研究得出结论:专用英语教学是高职院校人才培养不可忽视的一个组成部分,是符合职场人才需求的。因此,对通过高考入学的学生立刻进行为期两个学年的专用英语教学是教学改革和人才培养的思路。 With the new demand for qualified graduates in the job market and with the need to optimize majors and curricula for different disciplines in vocational colleges,changes should be made in conventional English teaching for general purposes for non-English majors.Evaluating systems for non-English majors in vocational colleges no longer meet the needs of job markets.In order to adjust to the new demands,English Teaching&Researching Section of Foreign Languages Department for Non-English Major Students in Wuxi Professional College of Science and Technology implemented an English for specific purposes teaching program for the class of 2008.It has been concluded that ESP teaching plays an essential part in fostering qualified graduates for the job market,and that ESP teaching,which should last two academic years,is available and should start as early as possible for those newly recruited students who have passed National English Entrance Examination for Colleges.This ought to be the approach in the reform of English teaching for non-English majors.
