Four major innovations of A Framework of Reference for EFL Teaching at Tertiary Level

《上海市大学英语教学参考框架(试行)》是一份以专门用途英语为导向的教学大纲,具有以下四个创新点:1)提出大学英语教学从打基础的通用英语向为专业学习服务的专门用途英语转型;2)规定通用学术英语为新生的必修课程;3)较大幅度地提高对语言能力的要求;4)将学习技能和批判性思维能力加入评估指标。《框架》的制订依据包括经济全球化和高等教育国际化的需要,大学新生英语水平的变化,大学英语在高等教育中的作用和批判性思维能力以及学习技能培养的重要性。

A Framework of Reference for EFL Teaching at Tertiary Level is an ESP-oriented guideline.Its innovations are 1)a paradigm shift from General English to ESP;2)EAP as a required course for freshmen;3)higher requirement of literacy skills;and 4)integration of study skills,especially critical thinking ability,into the evaluation system.It results from an awareness of the demands of globalization and the internationalization of higher education,the change in freshmen’s English proficiency,the role of College English teaching in equipping students with the ability to succeed in their academic studies and the importance of developing critical thinking ability and other study skills.
