The Thread of the One-hundred-year’s Management Thoughts

19世纪末20世纪初,管理学作为一门新兴学科应运而生,人类开始了发现、认识和利用管理活动中的基本规律与一般原理的历史进程。100多年来,管理学领域英才辈出,硕果累累。然而,管理思想史研究却滞后于理论发展的步伐,未能及时为人们快速、全面、系统地认识和掌握管理理论提供框架性指导。本文试图突破以往学者们在研究管理思想史时仅从时间或者学派角度进行单一维度研究的做法,综合纵、横两个角度梳理管理思想百年脉络,以帮助人们构建百年管理思想史的知识体系。因此,贯穿本文的主要线索有两条:一是根据时间线索从纵向角度叙述管理思想发展史上不同历史阶段的时代背景、主要理论及其重要影响,帮助人们认识管理思想发展与演变的历史沿革;二是根据学派线索从横向角度阐述不同学术流派在各个历史时期的典型代表人物及其重要观点、历史贡献,帮助人们把握主要学术流派的发展脉络。

During the late 19 th and early 20 th century,management,a new discipline,emerged as the times require.And human beings started their historical course of discovering,understanding and utilizing the basic laws and general principles of the man agement activity.For more than a century,the field of management has fostered a great number of elites and accomplishments.However,the research of the history of management thoughts has lagged behind the theory’s development.Therefore,the former fails to serve timely as the framework guidance for a fast,comprehensive and systematic understanding and commanding of the management theory.Unlike the former scholars,who study the history of the management thoughts only from the time or school’s perspective,this article tries to make a breakthrough by combining both vertical and horizontal point of view to rationalize the thread of the one-hundred-year’s management thoughts.Thus,it can help people to establish a knowledge system of the century’s management thoughts.Therefore,two main clues run through the whole article:the first one,based on times,is to elabo rate the time background,mainstream theories and their significant impact of the historical development of the management thoughts.This can help people to understand the history of the development and evolution of management thoughts.The other one,based on schools,will illustrate different school’s representatives as well as their important viewpoints and historic contribution from a horizontal perspective.And this can help people to command the developing thread of the major management schools.
