西双版纳古称“车里”名源新考

The Transliteration of the Old Name Cheli(车里) of Xishuangbanna

车里"是西双版纳古称之一,学界对其名源的认识尚有分歧。"车里"最早见于元代,明清仍被沿用。明清两代编纂的"百夷译语"等材料说明"车里"系他称,而非傣族自称。结合元代蒙古族征讨西南的历史和译音对应关系的分析,"车里"乃元人所赋。元朝蒙古军队征讨"八百媳妇"至此,看到大片碧绿的坝区,因以本族语言thl nk:n thal("一大片绿色的地方")名之,后省称为thl。在明清史料中,"车里"仅仅用于当地"车里宣慰司"这一官方称名,并未被西双版纳傣族接受,西双版纳傣语中也无此词。

As an old name of Xishuangbanna,current studies have different opinions.Cheli appeared in the early literature of Yuan Dynasty,it was continue used in Ming and Qing Dynasties.But Bai-Yi-Yi-Yu(百 夷 译 语)materials proved that it was a nominatum name,not selfproclaimed name.Combining with the conquest history of Yuan and the transliteration analysis,it might be named by Yuan people.The army of Yuan passed here on the expedition to Babaixifu(八百媳妇),they saw this huge green land,so gave a Mongolian name t∫h?l n∫k?:n thal,it means'a huge area of green land'.After Yuan Dynasty,Cheli only used in the official name of local Tusi(土司),it was not accepted by local Dai people.
