The New Trend of Higher Educationof China's Mainland and Taiwan inthe New Era

本文旨在探讨面对新世纪,两岸高等教育宜以前瞻的视野、新的思维迎接新的挑战。本文首先探讨高等教育发展环境的变迁;其次剖析高等教育正面临的危机,指出应加速高等教育改革的步调;再次说明新世纪高等教育的任务,须与时俱进;最后提出两岸政府急需对高等教育的发展虚心检讨,以理性而稳健的态度,从事前瞻合理的规划,建立一套完善的公平竞争与合作的机制,以利提升高等教育质量,增进高等教育的竞争力,为两岸开创美好的未来。

The aims of this paper focus on the education authority in China's Mainland and Taiwan should adopt an innovation and perspective approach for the new era,which creates a promising ideal environment for higher education,and for China's Mainland and Taiwan more towards being a modernized society in the 21th century.This paper includes four parts,first of all,it explains the changing environment in higher education;secondly,it discusses the possible crises for higher education;thirdly,explores higher education development and new missions in China's Mainland and Taiwan;finally,this paper pay emphasis on taking new strategies and make progress on the measures and policies proposed by China's Mainland and Taiwan,in order to exercise the new functions and improve the overall quality and competitiveness of higher education that is the drive forces and foundation of sustainable development for higher education in China's Mainland and Taiwan,which is the pursuit of excellence towards internalization.
