为人民服务思想是毛泽东同志为我党确立的宗旨,是服务国家与服务人民的一致性和爱国与爱民一致性的本质所在。"三个代表"重要思想是为人民服务思想的发展与延伸,它为"立党为公、执政为民"赋予了时代的特点,把发展生产力和先进文化、实现最广大人民的根本利益同坚持党的先进性联系在一起,成为当代实践为人民服务思想的最高标准。

The thought of 'serve the people' is the main aim set up by Mao Zedong. It combined with the thought 'serve the nation'. The important thought of 'Three Representatives' is the extension and development of the thought 'Serve the people'. The Party is for the public interests. The government is for the people. They are characterized by the times. 'Three Representatives' has become the highest standard to practise the thought of 'serve the people' in the modern times.
