摘要
本文汇报了2013—2017年针对国内某高校81名工程技术类本科学生英语写作能力发展开展的一项历时研究。全程通过问卷调查、参与式观察、深入访谈、焦点访谈和周记撰写等方法收集数据。在入学之初对其教育背景、英语学习动机和高考成绩等进行了问卷调查,并通过为期16个月的大学英语读写研究型教学活动收集了学生撰写的研究周记2375篇。在使用'二语句法复杂度分析器'(L2 Syntactic Complexity Analyzer)进行量化分析后,本研究结合个人深入访谈和小组焦点访谈内容,运用动态系统理论分析和理解学生英语写作能力发展轨迹。研究结果表明,学生英语写作能力总体发展轨迹表现为不断递进,但强弱有别;个体发展轨迹呈非线性螺旋式发展,表现为持续进步型、高位稳定型和间歇发展型3种典型类型。
This paper reports a foury e a r(2013—2017)longitudinal study on the development process of Chinese engineering students’English writing capacity.Data was collected by questionnaires,participant observation,in-depth interviews,focus group interviews and research journals.Participants were surveyed at the entrance of the university study and submitted research journals weekly for 16 months at their College English Writing Module.2 375 journals were analysed by L2 Syntactic Complexity Analyzer(L2SCA)to understand the development process of their English writing capacity.The results were interpreted by Dynamic System Theory triangulated with data collected through in-depth interviews and focus group interviews.The findings indicate that the development process varies from student to student,but shows a spiral increase in general.Three types of individual development process were identified,in terms of Continuous Progress,High-stable Progress,and Off-and-on Progress.
