Gratifying achievements in both vision and action have been made since the"Belt and Road”Initiative was proposed six years ago.However,some misunderstandings exist in practice.For example,public attention seems to fix on almost all westward directions,either the route that Zhang Qian trudged over in his diplomatic mission to the Western Region,or the voyage of Zheng He to the west.The initiative leaves a visual impression of camels marching in the desert on the public via the media.Economically,it facilitates economic and trade cooperation projects such as Sino-European Port and China-Europe Train.In 2013,when the Chinese President Xi Jinping first proposed the great concept of the"Belt and Road”,the internal and external implications of this“top design”were open for interpretations.In 2014,I was invited to give a lecture about the interpretation of the"Belt and Road”at the Chinese Consulate General in Sydney,Australia,as an expert of this initiative.
