OBJECTIVE To establish decentralized medication distribution mode via Automated Dispensing Cabinet(ADC)in wards to cut back the execution time of medical orders, and improve the efficiency of pharmacists and nurses as well as promote the quality of drug management.METHODS The construction method and the achievement of decentralized medication distribution mode via automated dispensing cabinet in wards in our hospital were demonstrated.RESULTS ADC decentralized dispensing mode achieved the goal of shortening the execution time of hospital orders, enhancing the efficiency of pharmacists and nurses, and improving the quality of drug management in wards.CONCLUSION The application of ADCs dispersing method in the whole hospital is still new in the pharmacy field nationwide. The advancing dispersing mode still requires experience accumulation, continual optimization of the working flow and improvement of quality control system,so that the advantages of this model can be fully appreciated, and the pharmacists could be freed from redundant work and focus on other professional skills with the help of information technology. This decentralized medication distribution mode is expected to contribute to the realization of pharmacists’work mode transformation.
