New visible light communication technology of wireless router will enter into our life, which will be a supplement to the existing radio frequency technology applications. This article elaborates on the background and the development status of visible light communication technology, analyses its technical principle, advantages and existing problems, and looks to the future of research. At the same time, it also introduces the creative applications and prospects of visible light communication in indoor navigation, intelligent traffic, aviation, hospitals, mines and other areas where traditional network communication could not covered.
