吴文英早年在临安曾经与一位歌伎有过一段将近十年的恋情,时间是1222-1232年间,这就是他 一再提到的西湖十年。随着吴文英进入苏幕和这位歌伎的去世,这段情事很快就结束了。梦窗情词基本上就是 对这一段情事的追忆,因而濡染上了中年时期的沉郁悲凉色彩。

Wu Wenying had loved a geisha in Lin' an when he was a youngling in 1222 - 1232, it was the 10 years in Xizi Lake that he had often mentioned. The love was finished when Wu Wenying went to Suzhou and the geisha was died. A lot of Wu Wenying' s love Ci poety were recollection about that times, so they were futili-tarian.
