The proposal of 'great wushu concept' and 'wushu standardization' has provided us with a window of multi-dimension and multi-view to re-examine Chinese wushu (martial arts).Through literature and data, logical analysis and other methods, this article makes a discussion on contemporary values and functions of wushu in such a big background.The development and evolution of wushu thoughts in history are often rooted in the changes of value orientation.Under the guidance of great wushu concept and the strategy of invigorating the country with culture, wushu is endowed with wider values and functions, which will also bring a broader development prospect for itself.Wushu belongs to sports but is higher than sports.Attention should be paid to both the sport attributes and cultural attributes of wushu during its development process.
