Theoretically based on traditional Chinese culture, wushu (martial arts),an ancient and unique sports mode in the orient, is a traditional national sports event laying emphasis on both external and internal cultivation. Wushu carries the spirit and culture of the Chinese nation as well as oriental people's way of thinking. Through the spreading and promotion by movies, wushu not only expresses its movements in the art of attack and defence, but also reflects traditional Chinese culture. Therefore, with the spreading of kung fu movies, wushu has more and more become a symbol that represents China. A kung fu movie is a channel for many people to understand Chinese wushu and gives a strong boost in wushu spreading.
