A Novel Definition of Internal Style and External Style of Wushu from Multidimensional Perspective

武术内外家的分类由来已久,最初由清代黄宗羲提出内家拳的概念后迅速得到众人的认可。随着时代发展,内外家的分类分法又有了不同的定义,时至当今,武术的门派、套路、技击、教学、训练、演练形式等等都发生了翻天覆地的变化,而关于武术的内外家之争问题仍是一个热门问题,这在一定程度上阻碍了武术的发展。本文旨在通过分析武术内外家的起源、分类方法以及其所处时代背景,联系当代,从不同的角度分析原有武术内外家分类的不合理之处;同时阐述当今武术分内外家是否有必要;最后得出武术在当今时代已经内外家相互学习,相互融合,不分内外家的结论。

The distinction of internal style and external style of wushu(martial arts) can be traced back long time ago. Proposed by Huang Zongxi in Qing Dynasty, the classification of two styles was quickly accepted by practitioners. As time goes by, the way of classification varies. As wushu's style, routines, ways of attack, teaching and training content, as well as the way of performance are changing constantly, fierce arguments in terms of the definition of internal style and external style emerge continuously, which are becoming obstacles for wushu's further development By analyzing the origin of internal style and external style, its way of classification, comparing its historical background with modern times, this paper discusses, from various perspectives, the unreasonable aspect as well as the necessity of classification. It is concluded that in modern times, there should not be a clear distinction between internal and external style, instead, the advantages of two styles should be extracted and mixed together.
