The Imperial Examination on Martial Arts, which was emerged in Tang Dynasty, formed in Song Dynasty, developed in Ming Dynasty and declined in Qing Dynasty, improved the criteria of choosing talents with both civil and military. However, with the invasion of western countries in succession through forces, traditional examination way cannot meet the needs of modern war and therefore was abandoned before the falls of Qing Dynasty. The examination has positive influence on wushu(martial arts) while it also has limitation which impedes wushu from further development. Therefore, its shortcomings should be avoided while the essence should be learned. It is essential to understand its influences on the development of wushu in Tang Dynasty,in order to offer reference to wushu's further development.
