If the Ou River would be in lack of sailboats someday, photographic lovers and tourists at Lishui would have to image "the beautiful scenery of sailing boats on the Ou River" through photos or with the help of tour guides’ narrations. On the 400-km-long Ou River.Xu Xingshun is surely a dab hand at making sailboats."Give me a wooden piece 5 to 6 meters in length and 18-20 centimeters in diameter, and I’ll make a sailboat within a week." he boasts proudly. The now 58-year-old Xu has spent the better part of his life manufacturing sailboats. He followed his father and grandfather to learn the craft handed down from his ancestors when he was 18.Though he fails to remember the exact number of sailboats he has made over the past four decades, yet he says it must be more than 2.000.
