The Egret Protector on the Yehu Mountain

每年的五六月份是白鹭繁殖季节,在兰溪市游埠镇的野狐山上,林中栖息着上万只白鹭。成群的鹭鸟在空中自由翱翔,吸引了远近众多观鸟人和摄影爱好者。野狐山占地面积近200亩,山上以樟树和杉树为多。成群结队的成年白鹭起早贪黑地到田野里捉鱼觅食,不辞辛劳地来回给巢里的小鹭鸟喂食,演绎着野生动物母爱的天性。能使白鹭每年春天返回兰溪野狐山生儿育女。

On the Yehu Mountain of Youbu Town,Lanxi City,thousands of egrets perch there. Clusters of egrets hovering in the air draw attention of birdwatchers and photographers far and near.Shao Weirong,a villager from Diaojia Village,is the man who brings egrets back to the Yehu Mountain to propagate every spring.In order to give visitors a place to rest and have meals,Shao Weirong contracts the mountainous region and opens a farm house restaurant whose profit could be used for protecting egrets.He patrols the mountain every morning and afternoon to search for frightened little egrets which are blown down by wind.He cures and feeds the injured little egrets in time and brings them back to the forest after recovery.Since 2008,Shao Weirong has paid more than 200,000 yuan for protecting egrets on the Yehu Mountain. The reason why Yehu Mountain becomes egrets’ home is that Shao Weirong,a villager from Diaojia Village,invests and protects the Yehu Mountain.Also,the favorable ecological environment and numerous water areas in Youbu Town provide egrets with abundant food resource.Egrets mainly feed on little fish,shrimps,frogs,locusts and mole crickets.In Youbu Town,most of water areas are used for breeding fish and pearls by farmers.There are at least one hundred aquatic product farmers within 10 kilometers radius around the Yehu Mountain.
