Salutation to the Last Chinese Expeditionary Force of the Second World War

题记:2012年10月中旬,1919年出生的二战中国远征军老兵邵继舜回到义乌市大陈镇马畈村。在父母坟墓前,他哭泣祭拜。邵继舜少年时离开家乡去当兵,身经淞沪抗战,后随二战中国远征军第五军出国(缅甸)打击日寇。他历经无数次的殊死战斗,可谓九死一生。认识这位具有传奇色彩的老兵后,我多次赶赴滇缅边境采访,在拍摄邵继舜的同时,记录下这些最后的中国远征军老兵的身影。

This year not only marks the 70 th anniversary of the victory of the anti-Japanese war which is a part of the world anti-fascist war,but also the 73 rd anniversary of Chinese Expeditionary Force’s first battle in Myanmar.As a special military force,Chinese Expeditionary Force gave powerful supports to the Allied Forces and laid a solid foundation for China’s counter attack against Japan which had accelerated Japanese fascist’s fatal defeat.Their sacrifices provided a good base for China’s gaining of great power status in the post-war world.Four hundred thousand soldiers in total from China were involved in the China-Myanmar-lndia war,which lasted three years and three months,with about half of them dead or injured in the end.Those who are still alive now are like candles in the winds,so it is urgent for us to record these old soldiers,in a bid to keep them in memory and more importantly,to show our respects! Now grave salutations are left to us by those soldiers who are approaching the end of their lives.
