摘要
刘小平,浙江丽水人,首届中国木雕艺术大师、浙江省工艺美术大师。从接触木材,到初涉根雕,刘小平苦心孤诣,创作了众多兼集人间万象众态,窥探天界佛陀禅机的根雕作品。其炉火纯青之技艺和玄妙莫测之境界,让他赢得了"人天同构造,化朽为神奇"的美誉。结缘根艺,博采众长刘小平,初中毕业时为讨生计打过工,做过木匠,而其与根雕的结缘却完全是个意外。1994年,浙江省根艺美术学会在中国美院举办了一个根雕展览。
Born in Lishui,Zhejiang,Liu Xiaoping is considered as one of the first Chinese woodcarving masters as well as one of Zhejiang arts and crafts masters.He has started wood and root carving from some initial knowledge and after painstaking efforts,he has created numerous root carving works reflecting both mundane life on the earth and Buddhist essence in the heaven.Liu’s consummate skill,along with the subtle and unpredictable charm,has won him a reputation as a master who is capable of "integrating human beings and nature,and changing mediocrity into miracle".
