Interpretation of O Henry's Awareness of Civil Morality in The Purple Dress and The Green Door

以公民道德意识为切入点,比较欧·亨利故事主题相似的两部短篇小说《紫裙》和《绿门》,通过探究小说主人公身上所体现出来的善良仁慈、自我牺牲和乐于助人的高尚品格,来挖掘这两部作品的道德教育价值,使读者获得真、善、美的心灵启迪,呼吁社会形成良好的道德风尚。

Viewing the awareness of civil morality as a starting point,this paper compares O Henry’s two short stories The Purple Dress and The Green Door which have similar themes.Through exploring the lofty characters in the protagonists,such as goodness and benevolence,self-sacrifice,and being ready to help others,the paper reveals the value of moral education in the two works and the author’s purposes of having readers obtain inspirations of the rue,the good and the beautiful,and appealing to the good morality in society.
