The Hungarian Natural History Museum(HNHM) is one of the first natural history museums in the world,and it has unique tradition and the defining cultural role plays in the society. The HNHM houses extensive botanical, zoological, anthropological, paleontological and geological collections,primary types specimens and books,and the collections and other scientific facilities are used by researchers from all over the world. The museum's exhibitions attract approximately 300000 visitors,and it organizes almost 500 educational events annually,reaching 44000 persons. The museum is aware of the challenges and opportunities that facing at the moment. The museum must tackle global issues like climate change,biodiversity crisis,emerging infectious diseases,or biological invasion,taking a leading role in identifying special and generalized problems and finding the way to co-operate with the appropriate governmental offices and with other scientific organizations and institutions.
