Agricultural Ethics Based on the Relevance of Agricultural System as a Whole: A Review of An Introduction to Chinese Agricultural Ethics

任继周院士主编的《中国农业伦理学导论》是中国农业伦理学的开山之作。该著作认为农业伦理学是农业系统自身作为关联整体的内在要求,从而农业系统关联整体对于农业伦理学具有本体论意义。其次,该著作也从"时"、"地"、"度"、"法"四个维度来构建农业伦理学的具体内容。最后,该著作基于农业系统的动态平衡思想,使自然科学与哲学、伦理学融会贯通,也使中国传统伦理在当代农业实践中得到发展,从而达到了汇中西之学、通古今之变的高度。

An Introduction to Chinese Agricultural Ethics, edited by Academician Ren Jizhou, is the pioneering work of Chinese Agricultural Ethics. Firstly, the book holds that agricultural ethics is the inherent requirement of the agricultural system itself as an inter-related whole. Therefore, the agricultural system has ontological significance for agricultural ethics. Secondly, this work also constructs the specific content of agricultural ethics from the four dimensions of 'time', 'place', 'degree' and 'law'. Finally, based on the idea of dynamic balance of agricultural system, the work integrates natural science with philosophy and ethics, and also develops Chinese traditional ethics based on contemporary agricultural practice, thus achieving a high degree of integration of Chinese and Western learning from ancient to modern times.
