论黄苗子的新闻漫画创作及其艺术特色

On News Cartoon Creation of Miaozi Huang and Its Artistic Characteristics

少年时期家庭浓郁的文化艺术氛围,养成了黄苗子对形式自由、充满智慧与活泼精神的新闻漫画的兴趣。中学时期他开始向香港的一些报刊投递漫画。1931年初,他一边任职政府官员,一边从事新闻漫画创作,不断在《时代漫画》《独立漫画》《美术生活》等重要刊物上发表作品,在漫坛崭露头角。1936年夏,他即被推举为第一届全国漫画展筹备委员。关心和忧虑国家与民族的前途、批判和讽刺国民党当局对日妥协与卖国的丑恶行径、揭露和抨击当局社会治理中的不公平现象、观察和记录民风社情,是黄苗子新闻漫画创作的主题。随物赋形且线条细腻、借助传统帮助唤起认同、善用对话以突出主题、通过捕捉瞬间去挖掘其中的社会意义,是其新闻漫画的主要艺术特色。

The rich cultural and artistic atmosphere of Miaozi Huang’s family in his youth has cultivated his interest in news cartoons with free form, full of wisdom and lively spirit. In high school, he began to submit cartoons to some newspapers in Hong Kong. At the beginning of 1931, he worked as a government official while engaged in the creation of news cartoons. He continuously published his works in Times Comics, Independent Comics, Artistic Life and other important publications, and made a figure in the comic world. In the summer of 1936, he was elected as a member for the preparatory committee of the first national comic exhibition. The major themes of Huang’s creations were his deep concerns with the future of his nation and people;sarcastic and judgmental depictions of the Kuomintang party yielding to Japanese government;revealing and attacking the unfairness of the society under the ruling party;as well as observing and recording the status quo of the society and people. The main artistic features of his news cartoons were that they were imbued with objects with delicate lines, arousing identification with the help of tradition, making good use of dialogues to highlight themes, and digging out the social significance through capturing moments.
