The image of'snail'is an indispensable clue in studying Virginia Woolf’s works due to its special biological attribute and unique body composition, yet few attention has been paid to it by domestic scholars, let alone the one appeared in 'The Mark on the Wall'. However, after a careful study of the image 'snail',it’s found that Virginia Woolf’s theory of an'androgynous mind',her feministic thoughts and ecofeminist philosophy entailed in the image of 'snail'are all revealed in 'The Mark on the Wall'. Therefore,an analysis of the'snail'in this novel is of great importance in deepening the understanding towards Woolf’s profound thoughts.
