The banquet is a mirror that reflects social politics,economy,culture,social customs and ethics.Banquets in the Eastern Han Dynasty had political functions besides its enjoyment function due to the characteristics of their times.Monarchs in the court frequently invite military officers and princes from all over the country,which is an imperial strategy to win over and control officials and maintain the stability of the regime.Behind the banquets between officials and the various'Hongmen Banquets',there are more complicated political motives.Looking at the different motives for emperors to hold feasts in the early and late periods can also reflect the changes of political ecology in the Eastern Han Dynasty.
