"故乡"是刘震云小说创作中的一个关键词。为了理清故乡与个人的关系,刘震云先后在四个层面以小说的形式对故乡的本质作了思考与辨析。刘震云在时间与空间之间更偏向于时间;物与人之间更偏重于人;想象与真实之间更偏重于想象。他认为个体的故乡情结不过是基于不满当下的精神回望,一种在想象过去中寻找慰藉的努力。

'Native land'is a keyword in LIU Zhen-yun's novels which,to probe into the relationship between an individual and his /her native land,resort to contemplative analysis at four levels. As far as the narrative orientation is concerned,the novelist is found to prefer time to space,people to the environment on which they live,and,the imaginary to the real. The novelist concludes that native-land complex results from a discontent with the status quo and in a spiritual consolation when drawn to the happy past.
