Similarities between the American School and the French School and Their Enlightenment in the Development of Comparative Literature

比较文学发展的过程中,虽然法国学派注重事实考证的文学外部研究,美国学派侧重于审美批评的文学内部研究,但是美法学派之间的争论在于文学研究范式的差别。争论的过程中两派彼此都在寻找比较文学发展的中间道路。二者在探索比较文学研究领域、学科特点与方法上存在着共同的心态。比较文学的学科特性使其在发展的过程中不断遇到各种机遇与挑战,保持文学性,探索生命的终极价值与世界和谐是其解决各种问题的精神基础。

In the developing of comparative literature, the French school put emphasis on empirical research while the American school paid special attention to aesthetic criticism. In essence, this conflict derived from the different paradigms. Since there were some similarities between the two studies in the realm of subject matters, features and approaches, they tried to reach a compromise. The discipline characteristics of comparative literature forebode an increasingly number of opportunities and challenges.The way out is to preserve the literaturality, explore the ultimate meaning of life and pursue the harmony world over.
