This research is based on a case study about the online fandom of TVXQ,a Korean band which is one of the most popular stars among Chinese women. It consists of an online ethnography, where online participatory observation,in-depth interview and recruiting for self-interpretation are applied. This research argues:anonymity of the cyberspace does not erase the social labels on us,nor does it eliminate the social hierarchy.Among the Chinese CASSIOPEIA,there is a distinguished hierarchy. That is,different level of authority is attributed to messages from different groups of members. In addition, the Chinese collective unconsciousness, which is against the liberal value of cyberspace,is haunting in this online fandom. The official-oriented privilege, conflict avoidance, and the ideology of collectivism are three of the most obvious.
