摘要
作为首个在英国本土发行的《西游记》英译本,海伦·海耶斯的《佛教徒的天路历程》在《西游记》的英译史上占据着重要位置。然而较之《西游记》的其它译本,该译本尚未得到学界的充分关注。鉴此,本文围绕译者身份、翻译选材、翻译底本、翻译策略这些内容,对该译本展开研究,希望能为《西游记》在英语世界的传播做出微薄的贡献。
With the title of The Buddhist Pilgrim’s Progress,Helen Hayes’s translation of Xi You Ji is the first English version published in Britain,which occupies a prominent position in the history of the English translation of.Xi You Ji.Compared with other English versions,the study of Hayes’s translation is rare.This paper tries to probe into the translator’s identity,translation strategy,translation selection and the original work on which the translation is based.It is hoped that this research may contribute to the dissemination of Xi You Ji in the English World.
