Carving out a Moral Image of the Ruling Party

执政党的道德形象是执政党通过自身的道德表现,给民众在知觉上造成的一种具体道德形态和道德面貌。它直接关乎执政党政治生命的强弱兴衰,直接关系到执政党其执政的合法性问题。良好的道德形象本是无产阶级政党的"题中应有之义"。然而,中国共产党自执政以来,特别是改革开放以来,良好道德形象受到了前所未有的冲击。目前,对党的道德形象造成严重侵蚀的是腐败现象和"四风"现象。要塑造执政党的良好道德形象,重点是克服腐败问题和"四风"问题,为此必须要从严治党,加强民主政治制度建设和党的思想道德建设。

The moral image of a ruling party is the manifestation and impression the party presents to the public through its own moral conduct and performance.It has a direct bearing on the political life of the ruling party and its governance validity.A good moral image is an indispensable part of a proletarian party.However,the moral image of Party has been impaired since it came into power,especially since the reform and opening up.Corruption and 'Four Bad Practices'(i.e.,formalism,bureaucratism,hedonism and extravagance) are the two most erosive factors.To carve out a fine moral image,the ruling party should focus on overcoming the two big issues.Therefore,it is necessary to manage Party strictly,strengthen institutional construction of democratic politics and enhance Party's ideological and moral education.
