In Boys and Girls,with the child perspective and female narrative combined,Alice Munro tells a girl's initiation story:an innocent child gradually 'becomes'a woman influenced by her family and society. The use of the child perspective narrative technique makes the story full of naivety in language and contents. The protagonist's initiation process is revealed before the reader through the narrator's eye without any comments. Furthermore,due to the limitation of the young narrator's perceptibility,the narrator's description of her parents in the story is too one- sided,which reflects her eagerness and confusion in the process of 'becoming'a woman.
