Analysis of Ezra Pound's Translation Method from His Work Named The Jewel Stairs' Grievance

作为意象主义诗歌运动的主要代表人物,埃兹拉·庞德在进行诗歌翻译时注重的是"意象"的传达,运用创意翻译法,竭力传译原作之美。虽然翻译界对这种创造性翻译看法不一,但不可否认庞德为西方翻译理论界所作出的巨大贡献。文章通过对其译作《玉阶怨》的分析,进一步探析庞德的翻译观。

As the main representative of the Imagist Movement,Ezra Pound emphasized on the successful delivery of'image'in the source text. When doing translating work,he tightly grasped the'luminous details'that could arouse his inner mood,by using creative translation method to express the source beauty. Though some translation scholars held different view towards this kind of translation method,the huge contribution of Pound's translation views towards western translation theories couldn't be denied. His famous translation work < Cathy > won much appreciation in western world. This article will try to explore Pound's translation theory by analyzing one of his translation work The Jewel Stair's Grievance.
