Non-Hodgkin's Lymphoma (NHL) is a malignant tumor arising from the lymphoreticular ticaue. Inthe main types of NHL, i. e. peripheral T-cell lymphoma (PTL) and B-cell lymphoma (BL), the helper Tcell (TH) and interleukin-2 (IL_2) all had various manifestation. TH was often a malignant component inPTL, but only a reactive growth in BL. Dysfunctions were present in both of the two, but the mechanismwas not yet clear. The relationship between cell components and IL_2 in malignant lymphoma and leukemiawas studied in 14 cases. PBL and tonsils of normal human beings were used as controls in order to decidewhich was the chief cell component in IL_2 secretion and to differentiate between PTL and BL. After stepwiseregression analysis, it was found that the positive correlation of leu 3a (TH) and IL_2 was higher than othercell components in normal PBL. PTL had similar results, TH was truly the most important component inthe IL_2 secretion but TH and IL_2 presented a negative correlation in BL. The correlation between TH andIL_2 in PBL was similar to that in lymph node, when the patient was the same one. It is considered, that THmay be the important factor in the mechanism of pathogenesis of both PTL and BL. Further research isrequired to verify these results.
