《匡谬正俗》为札记的首创之作,对训诂学发展的贡献很大。其内容可概括为考释古籍正文、纠正古注误训、探求俗语来源。在编写体例、研究课题、保存资料三方面皆有其学术价值。在注音、取例上有讹误,解说出现失误,但属白璧微瑕。

In addition, Rectifications is of academic values in terms of compiling style, researching projects, and data accumulations. In spite of the sporadic errors of tones, illustrations, this work is generally of splendid stature.
