A Reinterpretation of Confucian Characteristics in Japan

日本虽是深受中国儒家文化影响的国家,但由于日本自身的文化特点,儒学文化的精髓并没有真正融化到日本民族的文化意识中并作为"优势文化"发挥作用。日本文化的精神实质形成于日本民族自己自古以来的生存方式上。因此,我们有必要对日本这一"儒教国家"进行更为符合实际的再诠释。

Although Japan has been greatly influenced by Chinese culture, especially by Confucianism, the essence of Confucianism has never been integrated into Japan's national cultural awareness and played no function as its 'predominant culture' owing to Japan's own cultural specificity. The gist of Japanese culture has been formed in its own way of survival from time immemorial. Therefore, it is necessary to reinterpret Japan as a 'Confucian state' in conformity with objective reality.
