At the beginning of Ming Dynasty, Zhu Yuanzhang, taking Qi Xian Xiao Si Hall of Song Dynasty as his model, set up Feng Xian Hall in the palace to offer sacrifices to ancestors and therefore founded the system of offering sacrifices in the inner temple in Ming Dynasty. The inner temples, located in the palaces of the two capitals, with Fengxian temple being the core, actually were the emperor's ancestral temples of Ming Dynasty. They had some characteristics differing from those of religious temples in set-up, origin, and ceremony of offering sacrifices. It is an important part of the system of the emperor of Ming Dynasty offering sacrifices to ancestors.
