On the Adaptive Translation of the Style of Chinese Verse

本文从文化翻译观的视角出发,探讨汉诗英译中风格变通的必要性和可能性.风格再现是重要的;在多数情况下,原诗的风格是可译的.然而,由于文化变迁、诗歌意义增殖、读者价值观因时而异等原因,翻译中的风格交通有时也是必要的.这种变通既体现了译者的创造性和文化意识,又反映了时代的文化需求.本章运用相关理论与知识,探讨了汉诗英译中风格变通的理据和方法.

This paper investigates, from the perspective of cutranslatology, the necessity and possibility of stylistic adaptation in the translation of Chinese verse. The reproduction of the original style is important, and, in most cases, style is translatable. However, owing to such factors as cultural drifts, the value augmentation of poetry, the changes in the readers' standards and values, the adaptation of style, which shows the translator's creativity and sense of culture and reflects the cultural need of the times, is necessary. This paper, on the basis of relevant theories, expounds the theoretical supports and methods of adaptive translation.
