On Agreement

摘要传统语法把英语一致关系看作句法或语义现象.然而,大量的语言事实表明,传统的一致观存在着解释上的不足.中心语驱动短语结构语法框架内的标引一致理论,则兼顾了句法、语义、语用因素,较好地解决了传统一致观所解决不了的问题.本文在介绍标引一致理论的同时,也指出了该理论由于拘泥于某些概念而造成的操作上的复杂性. According to traditional grammar, English agreement is classified into syntactic category. However, plenty of data show the explanatory inadequacy of traditional view of agreement. It is assumed in the paper that the index agreement theory in the framework of Head-driven Phrase Structure Grammar, which incorporates syntax, semantics and pragmatics, seems to be a potential approach to the problems exhibited in the traditional explanation of agreement. The paper also points out some weaknesses in the index agreement.

7需要指出的是,Pollard和Sag的标引一致理论是建立在他们所创立的中心语短语驱动语法(HPSG)框架里的,关于中心语驱动语法,可参见二人合著的Heod-Driven Phrase Structure Grammar.
8锚定,或称锚向,原为非线性音系术语,指某个单位所依赖的那个单位.标引一致理论借用该术语表示指称语从所指获得赋值.
9有时不需要语境,只根据所指的性质,直接使名词短语锚向所指以获得一致性特征信息.这种情况的处理方法类似于纯语义论.
10HPSG约束理论A原则:一个在局部语域内受到间接程度o-统制(o-command)的照应语必须在局部语域内受约束.局部语域o-统制的定义是:令Y和Z为带有区别性局部语域值的句法语义成分,并且,Y为指称性成分,只要Y的间接程度低于Z,则Y局部语域o-统制Z.详见Pollard & Sag(1994:253-254).
