论德莱塞小说中的悲观主义

An Analysis of the Pessimism in Dreiser’s Novels

德莱塞的小说里渗透着一股沉重的悲观主义情绪。本文从分析作品入手 ,指出他的悲观主义主要表现在 :第一 ,宣称生活没有价值、意义和目的 ;第二 ,流露出浓厚的宿命论思想 ;第三 ,大量描写悲剧的爱情。德莱塞的这种悲观主义与自身经历、悲观的哲学思想以及特有的“美国梦”的破灭相关。

Dreiser’s novels reveal a stream of pessimistic emotion.This paper analyses some of his novels,and points out that his pessimist mainly shows as follows:First asserting life has no value,no meaning and no purpose;Second,revealing a strong fatalism;Third,narrating a lot of tragic love.As a result,his pessimism is thorough and despairing.The pessimism of Dreiser can not separate from his own experience, pessimistic philosophy and the breaking of “American Dream”。
