Hua Gang and the Splendor of Shandong University in the Fifties of the 20th Century

华岗校长全面贯彻《共同纲领》中新民主主义的教育方针,把丰富的革命实践经验与山东大学的实际相结合,改进教学,重视科研,注重学科建设,培育山大特色,创办学术杂志,引领学术潮流,延揽人才,爱护人才,奠定了山东大学发展的人才基础和学科基础。华岗校长与全体师生共同创造了20世纪50年代山东大学的辉煌。

In full implementation of the New Democratic educational guidelines of the Common Program, Hua Gang combined his resourceful revolutionary experience in practices with the actual circumstances of Shandong University. He forged innovations in teaching, laid emphases on academic research and the development of disciplinary studies, fostered the unique characteristics of Shandong University, established academic periodicals, innovated academic trends, and enlisted a galaxy of talents, thus laying the human and disciplinary foundations for the development of Shandong University. President Hua Gang, together with all the faculty, staff and students created the splendor of Shandong University in the 50s of the 20th century.
