Professor GUO Zheng-zhong's work The Weights and Measures in China between the 3 rd and the 14 th Centuries has been published for 10 years. It made detailed elaborations on the complicated status and the flux of ancient Chinese weights and measures that lasted for more than 1000 years. The elaboration bridged the gap existent in previous discussion of Chinese weights and measures and challenged some traditional theories. It dealth with traditional weights and measures from a new angle and came up with enlightening new ideas. The elaborations of the managing system of weights and measures in the Song Dynasty are especially abundant and in detail. The book is well-rounded and is still invaluable and nighly readable although it was published to years age.
