一个世纪以来 ,严复的“信、达、雅”翻译标准在中国翻译界占据了统治地位。旨在探讨严复翻译标准长盛不衰的根本原因 ,指出它并不是“放之四海而皆准”的翻译真理 ,呼吁中国翻译界要对外开放 ,建立科学、系统的翻译理论体系。

This paper tries to analyze the root causes of the dominant position of Yan Fu's translation criteria and points out that it is not the universal translation criteria or the panacea to all translation phenomena.It also indicates that China's community of translators should establish its own translation studies system on the basis of scientific proof.
