左宗棠在西北期间,对振兴新疆的文化教育十分关注,从广设义塾,普及教育;刊发书籍,传播学术;引进匠师、推广技术等方面入手,兴办了具有鲜明地方特色的教育、教学模式,启动了新疆基础教育的改革进程,很值得今人总结与借鉴。
