The Custom of Tattooing: A Cultural Perspective

文身,指在人体上刻画刺字。人类是文化的动物,正是人类将文身赋予了文化的蕴涵。现代人普遍对文身存在怀疑、恐惧的心理。文身既是后进民族保留的图腾崇拜的标志,也是一种艺术方式的体现,还是反主流文化人群标新立异、反叛社会的一种标志。现今青少年的文身是一种亚文化现象的反映。文身行为不应当提倡。

Tattoo refers to carving designs and words on the body. It is human being that gives tattoo the cultural implication. Nevertheless, modern people suspect and fear it. Tattoo is the mark of keeping totem worship in less advanced nations, the emblem of an art and the mark of the people who are against the mainstream culture and who do something unconventional. Tattoo of youngsters is the reflection of sub-cultural phenomenon. In this paper, tattoo is not recommended to youngsters.
