Mao Zedong' s article entitled Correctly Handling Contradictions Among the People is a theoretical summary on the basis of initial practice instead of a purely theoretical supposition. It is characteristic of the Chinese practice pattern; it is not something copied from the practice pattern in the former Soviet Union; it is the product of exploring a process; it is not a doctrine that puts an end to states; it has made valuable contributions both in theory and practice to the development of Marxism and to that of the International Communist Movement. At present, in response to the call of the Party Central Committee with Hu Jintao as its General Secretary, a new upsurge of learning and implementing the important thought of 'the Three Representative Roles' is in full swing within the Chinese Communist Party. Rereading this article by Comrade Mao Zedong possesses the important function of greatly enlightening us: our Party' s guiding thought and its theoretical basis move on with the times and are imbued with the same spirit.
