On Qiuhu Story Based on the Version of Dunhuang

秋胡故事,在我国自汉魏以来流传已久,它叙述负心男子秋胡离家多年后返乡,调戏桑间美女,而此女恰恰是他相见不识的妻子,妻子不齿其行投河而死。本文以敦煌本秋胡故事为核心,试述其演变源流,更主要的是探讨变文的故事结局及其所带给我们的文化价值。

The story of Qiuhu has been spreading since the Han and Wei Dynasties, which is about an ungrateful man named Qiuhu who returned to the hometown after many years. In the mulberry field, he took liberties with a beauty who turned out to be his wife. Finally, despising this act, his wife drowned herself in a river. This paper explores the origin and evolution of the story of Qiuhu to discuss the result of the Bianwen and its cultural value.
