On the History Evolution of the Researches of Six Books

以许慎《说文解字》为载体的"六书"理论自其问世以来,至今已近两千年。纵观整个研究过程,其历史演变主要经历了以下几个时期:即东汉为其研究的创立期、宋元明为中兴期、清代为鼎盛期、近代以来至今为新时期。这种演变展示了各个时期独特的成就、独特的学术风气和鲜明的时代特点。

Since the birth of Six Books, which was based on Xu Shen's Interpretation of Chinese Characters, its theories have been studied for about 2000 years. Depending upon both 'academy' and 'dynasty', its research history can be divided into different stages as follows: East Han was the founding stage of its research; Song, Yuan and Ming were its resurgence stage; Qing was its prime stage; from modern time to now is its new stage. All stages have their unique achievements, academic atmosphere and times features.
