从文献、图像两方面对南朝石辟邪的产生、发生和发展进行了研究 ,并运用比较学的方法比较辟邪与天禄 ;辟邪与麒麟、貔貅、穷奇等的渊源关系 ,从而加深、加强人们对辟邪的认识和鉴赏能力 ;肯定南京市、丹阳市政府将辟邪作为城市标志性雕塑动机是好的 ,但从传统观念来看作为南朝陵道神兽的辟邪 ,最好还是尊重其产生的历史背景 ,将其限定在一定的城市空间内 。

From literature to figure, the author rese arches on the beginning and development of the spirit beast by comparing Han dyn asty with Six dynasties stone Evil-spirits and delve the original connection amo ng spirit beast, Kylin, Tenlu and spirit beast, Pixiu, Qiongqi in the comparativ e method, so as to improve people's sciential interests and appreciative abiliti es about stone Evil-spirits deeply and intensively. The motivation has been affi rmed that spirit beast was destined for the city symbol sculpture by the governm ent of Nanking and Danyang. However, it was such a long time ago that the stone spirit beasts were set to guard in Tomb road in our traditional notion. Is there a good setting way that the government could demarcate one region to emplace th e stone sculptures to avoid some negative association?
