Vacili Macorovichi Schuktsen is a famous contemporary Russian writer and artist whose novels and literary scenarios held an important position in the former Soviet literary field in the 1960's and 1970's. Though his writing career only lasted for 15 years, he wrote over 100 works which enjoy great popularity. These works touched some sensitive issues in the former Soviet society. He always focused on those plain and non-heroic affairs with which everyone is familiar, offering an enlightenment to life with the simple truth.
